The talk will focus on explaining why operational databases do not scale due to limitations in legacy transactional management. It will provide an overview of how an operational database works and the underlying transactional management sub-system. It will clarify the misunderstandings created around the scalability of transactional management and the CAP theorem. In the second part, it will cover how the lack of scalability of operational databases has been solved by LeanXcale. Finally, it will address a number of use cases from different verticals that can benefit from a scalable database and how their architecture can be simplified.
