TERMS AND CONDITIONS

These Terms and Conditions regulate the contractual relations between us, as organizers of the Big Things Conference (onwards, “the Event” or “the Conference”) and you, as an attendee.

Please, read carefully both, our Terms and Conditions and our Privacy Policy, as they include important information about the Event. To register for the conference, you must confirm that you have read them, that you agree with them and that you will fulfill them.

 

We reserve the right to modify, at any time and without prior notice, these Terms and Conditions. An updated version of these Terms and Conditions will be available permanently on the official Big Things Conference website www.bigthingsconference.com

 

ABOUT THE EVENT

Big Things Digital Experience 2020, is an international conference of technology experts, companies and institutions that will take place from November 16th to November 18th 2020.

 

The company Paradigma Digital, S.L. (onwards, “Paradigma”, “Big Things Conference” or “the Organizers”) organizes the Conference in cooperation with individuals, universities, communities and companies that are genuinely relevant to Big Data and Artificial Intelligence technologies and their applications. You will find more information about Paradigma at the end of these Terms and Conditions.

 

Program

The Attendant admits and accepts that the event Organizer will organize and manage the event, and that it will have the sole and final authority over all decisions regarding the security, celebration and organization of the event, its rules, schedules, etc.

 

The event organizer reserves the right to modify the format of the event and its programming, as well as to cancel the event due to lack of registration or other third-party issues.

Big Things Professional Platform

Attendees (including Speakers and Sponsors of the Event) will be able to access the Big Things Professional Platform from their devices.

Big Things Conference platform will allow you to network with other attendees (including Speakers and Sponsors), among other features, such as checking schedules or receiving notifications about the Event.

By filling the registration form with your data, you authorize the Organizers of Big Things Conference to use these details (full name, company and job title) in the app for networking purposes only. To know more about how we use those data, please access our Privacy Policy.

 

Code of conduct.

The Big Things Conference has proven to be a safe and productive environment for everyone involved in all its previous editions.

 

We will conduct the sessions mostly in English, including written and oral instructions and introduction of speakers and sessions. We recommend that you make sure that your fluency in spoken English will allow you to enjoy and make good use of the sessions. We may use Spanish in some sessions and as an auxiliary language in some cases by the event staff.

If your participation represents a danger or offense to others you may be suspended from the event. You will not be allowed to re-enter the Event or any future Event organised by or on behalf of Paradigma.

 

IMAGE RIGHTS

By attending the Event, you understand that Paradigma or third parties attending the Event may record your image by many methods including, without limitation, electronic recording, film, videotape, audiotape and photography (the “Recordings”), and use it. Paradigma may use your image for promotional or informational purposes of the Event on its social networks, such as Flickr or Youtube, the website, among others. In case you do not agree with the use Paradigma has made of your image in relation with the Event, you may contact hello@bigthingsconference.com

In case you do not agree with the use of your image by third parties, in relation with the Event, you should contact the third party directly. Paradigma is not responsible for any requirement, claim or cause of action you may have against third parties for the use they have made of your image in the Event.

 

INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHT

The logos, trademarks or trade names displayed on the website, social networks or communications of Big Things Conference are the exclusive property of Paradigma, Sponsors of Big Things Conference or third parties. As an attendee, you do not have a license to use them unless you have express consent for it.

The logos, trademarks or trade names of Big Things Conference are properly registered.

You will respond and hold harmless the organizers, who will not be responsible under any circumstances, against third-party claims that derive or are a consequence of the violation of Intellectual and/or Industrial Property rights by you or third parties when it is imputable to you.

 

LIABILITY

The Attendant acknowledges and accepts that the circumstances relating to the event may change periodically for reasons unrelated to the organization, without incurring any liability and without the Attendant having the right to claim their registration.

 

MISCELLANY

 

Partial Nullity

If any of the Terms and Conditions, or its clauses, were declared null and void by a final decision issued by the competent authority, the remaining Terms and Conditions will remain in force, without being affected by said declaration of nullity.

Force Majeure

We will not be liable for any failure or delay in compliance with any of the obligations assumed, when it is due to any type of act, event, lack of exercise, omission or accident that are beyond our reasonable control (“Cause of Force Majeure”). It will be understood that the obligations will be suspended during the period in which the Cause of Force Majeure continues, and we will have an extension in the term to fulfill those obligations for a period of time equal to the duration of the Force Majeure Event. We will use all reasonable means to end the Cause of Force Majeure or to find a solution that allows us to fulfill our obligations despite the Cause of Force Majeure.

 

ACCEPTANCE OF THESE TERMS AND APPLICABLE LEGISLATION

Participating in Big Things Conference 2020 implies the acceptance of these Terms and Conditions. These Terms and Conditions, and the attendance to Big Things Conference, are governed by Spanish legislation. Participation in this event implies the express resignation of the Attendants to the corresponding jurisdiction, accepting that the Spanish Courts and Juries are competent to clarify any claim.

Organizers reserve the right to resolve any unexpected contingency. Therefore, any possible incident which originates outside those stipulated in the Terms and Conditions will be resolved by the event Organizer according to its best criteria and knowledge.

This Privacy Policy explains how we (the Organization of Big Things Conference, hereinafter, “us” or the “Organization”) process the personal information we (or another company in our behalf) collect in the forms you can find on (onwards, “our website” or “the website”), in the Big Things Conference (onwards, “the Event” or “the Conference”) or in any other way; and what rights assists you as a user of the website or as an attendee of the Event, and how to exercise them. This document details the Privacy Policy that is in force at each moment, being your obligation as user or attendee to check it periodically to verify that you still agree with it. Please, in case you do not agree with our Privacy Policy, do not continue browsing our website or do not include information in the forms available on our website.

 

DATA CONTROLLER

DATA WE COLLECT

The personal data that we will process may be collected through any of the following ways: 

Newsletter form: information necessary for sending you our newsletter and information about the event.

Registration Form: information necessary for registering to the conference.

Speaker Registration Form: information necessary for including you as a speaker of Big Things.

Assistant Profile: Sponsors at Big Things Digital experience conference may request permission from you to save your assistant profile when visiting their virtual place.

By accepting to share your contact in that manner you accept that the organizer’s send to those Sponsors your individual data (name, email address, telephone number and company details) for commercial and networking processing purposes.

In addition, sponsors will receive a .csv file with the contact data from those attendees who have agreed during registration. 

 

PURPOSE OF THE TREATMENT

The personal data provided may be used for any of the following purposes:

If you are an attendee, to generate your attende profile and ID for attending the conference.

If you are a speaker, to include you in the Speaker list of the event and manage your participation to the Event.

Allowing networking between you and all the attendees, you will be included in the app’s attendees list, and you will be able to connect with other attendees, speakers and sponsors as indicated in the “use of the networking app and your personal data” section

Send you information regarding this year’s BigThings Conference, and inform you of future editions.

The participation in this event involves sharing your data with some sponsors, as specified in the section “share your data with sponsors“.

 

*In each of the forms you will be informed of the mandatory or optional nature of your answers. In case you do not provide us with any of the information we ask for, we cannot guarantee you to attend the request or provide the service corresponding to each form. The data you provide us in no case will be used for other purposes than those we indicate in each case.

We will not make profiling or automated decisions from the data you provide us with.

 

DATA CONSERVATION

The personal data provided will not be stored longer than necessary for the purposes of the data processing and, specifically, regarding the data we request in each of the forms:

Data of the Newsletter’s subscription form: we will keep your data until you request us to unsubscribe. You can be removed from our newsletter list sending an email with ‘unsubscribe’ in the subject line to hello@bigthingsconference.com

Data of the registration forms: we will keep your data during the Event for managing your attendance and for informing you of further Big Things announcements.

In case that you revoke your consent to the processing of your personal data, we will proceed to the deletion of your data. This means that we will not be able to access your information and it will only be stored during the periods established by the applicable regulations in order to respond to requests from the competent authorities and to deal with possible responsibilities arising from the processing.

 

LEGITIMATION OF DATA PROCESSING

The legal basis for processing your personal data is your consent. You can revoke it at any time, but the data processing made previously for that purpose will not lose its legality due to the fact that the consent has been revoked.

 

COMMUNICATION OF THE DATA

Organizers will not transfer the personal data of the users or/and attendees to any third party without a legal basis that legitimizes that data processing. This means that we will not share your personal data with third parties except:

When we have a legal obligation, we will be able to communicate your information to the authorities and entities that require it to us.

For the correct provision of the services requested by the user. Paradigma’s Data Processors (that is to say, our service providers) will be able to access your personal data to be able to develop the functions for which they were hired, among others: being able to manage your registration to the Event, accessing to the Event and to the Event’s App. In addition, we want to inform you that these service providers sign Data Processing Contracts that cover all the appropriate security measures to guarantee the protection of your personal data, in accordance with the data protection regulations.

In the case of international sponsors, we will make an international transfer of the data if pertinent as described in “share your data with sponsors”.

 

USE OF THE NETWORKING APP AND YOUR PERSONAL DATA

By registering to the event, we will use your name, company and position in the app’s registration list, being visible to all attendees, sponsors and speakers. In case you establish communication with any others, you will be able to share your complete personal information with them for networking and commercial purposes.

 

SHARE YOUR DATA WITH SPONSORS 

By accepting to share your data, the sponsors of the platinum and fidelity categories will receive this information: name, last name, email, telephone, company and position (data collected during registration). If a sponsor from another category gives a talk at the event, we will share with them the data of the attendees connected to their session.  We will never share your data with external organizations. The purpose of sharing your data with sponsors is sending commercial communications about products and services and for networking.

 

YOUR RIGHTS AND HOW WE EXERCISE THEM

 

Right of access: You have the right to request information about what personal data of yours we are dealing with, if any. The information that we can give you in this regard is what type of data is, what is the purpose of their processing or if we have communicated them to third parties or Data Processors, among other aspects.

Right of rectification: It is necessary that the information you provide us is correct and accurate. In case you think we have to rectify some information you can request us to correct it as soon as possible.

Right of suppression and limitation of the treatment: In case you do not want us to continue using your data, or that we only use them for limited purposes, you can exercise this right by indicating if you want us to proceed in this way, either because you do not want us to continue processing the data for the purpose of which we collected them, or because the reason that originated their processing has disappeared.

Right of opposition and not to be the object of individualized decisions: We will not process your information in case you oppose the data processing, nor to make individualized decisions nor to elaborate personalized profiles.

Right to lodge a complaint: If you consider that your rights have been violated, you can lodge a complaint before the Spanish Data Protection Agency.

 

In accordance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you, as an attendee (including Speakers and Sponsors) are informed about the collection of your personal data and your rights, as described above. You can exercise the above-mentioned rights by notice in writing at hello@bigthingsconference.com accompanied with a copy of your ID or similar document that allows the Organizers to properly identify you.
