What is it?

AWS DeepRacer is the fastest way to get started with Machine Learning. It is a fun and unique way to learn and get started with Reinforcement Learning (RL), an advanced kind of Machine Learning (ML).

Why should I participate?

At our AWS DeepRacer event at Big Things, you will be able to test how your trained model performs on a fully autonomous 1/18th scale race car in both the virtual and the physical circuit. Do you think you can be the fastest?

How can I participate?

During the 20th and 21st of November, Big Things Conference will celebrate an AWS DeepRacer event. Bring your own trained model and test it in our circuit. The AWS DeepRacer’s experts will be there to help you and to load your model to the AWS DeepRacer car.

If you didn’t have time to train your model, join our workshop at Big Things.

During this workshop, we will show you everything that you need to know to start training your model and to get ready to compete on our circuit.

Start training your model

First, you will need to create an account and train your Reinforcement Learning model in the AWS DeepRacer 3D racing simulator. You will need to evaluate your model on a simulated race track, tune your reward function and hyperparameters, and train again to improve lap times. The last step will be to test your model in the virtual environment and deploy it at Big Things 2019.

At Big Things, you will be able to prove the efficiency of your code! Train your model and get ready to win one of the amazing awards (an AWS Deeplens 2019 edition, an Echo show 5 or a 3rd generation Echo Dot) by being the fastest at our Big Things AWS DeepRacer race.

AWS DeepRacer is a unique and fun way to introduce Reinforcement Learning to developers and enthusiasts of all technical levels

The Car

The car is designed to test Reinforcement Learning models by racing on a physical track. It’s a fully autonomous 1/18th scale race car equipped with a front camera used to understand the layout of the circuit. It is also equipped with specific HW, which enables the execution of Machine Learning algorithms and allows the trained model to process the data, to make decisions and complete the whole circuit.

The Circuit

We will use the re:Invent 2018 race track at our event. It is an 8m x 5m circuit that ends in a U-turn. Will you be able to go below 10 seconds?
